Alexander Radishchev

Alexander Radishchev was an Enlightenment-era Russian author and social critic best known for *A Journey from St. Petersburg to Moscow*. Published in 1790, the book combined fictional travel, philosophy, and political economy to expose the injustices of Russian society. Its criticism of autocracy led to Radishchev’s arrest and exile to Siberia, making him an important precursor to later Russian reformers and radicals.
