Privacy Policy

This policy explains the limited information Quotemunity may receive and how we handle it.

Effective September 4, 2026

Information we receive

You can browse public quotes, authors, and topics without creating an account. If you contact us, we may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, message, and details supporting a correction, copyright, or privacy request.

Our web server and security systems may automatically record technical information such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, referring page, timestamps, response status, and security events. Administrators’ sign-in attempts and related security activity are also logged to protect the service.

Cookies and sessions

Public browsing does not require an account or persistent user profile. Quotemunity sets a first-party qmunity_view_id session cookie to deduplicate content views. It contains a random identifier, expires when the browser session ends, and is transformed into a one-way hash before a deduplicated view is stored. The content-view records do not retain a raw IP address, although web-server and security logs may contain IP addresses as described above.

The Contact Us form and administration area use a separate session cookie for security. On the contact page it protects the form against cross-site request forgery and helps limit rapid repeat submissions; in the administration area it also maintains an authenticated administrator session.

Analytics and advertising

On public production pages, Quotemunity uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site usage and performance. Google Analytics may receive technical and usage information and use cookies or similar identifiers according to Google’s own policies. Quotemunity does not send quote text entered by users, uploaded-image information, email addresses, or usernames as custom analytics event data.

Quotemunity does not currently run Google AdSense or display advertising. We may use advertising in the future; before doing so, we will update this policy and provide any notices or choices required by applicable law.

How information is used

  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve Quotemunity.
  • Respond to questions, corrections, attribution disputes, copyright requests, and privacy requests.
  • Investigate abuse, protect the service, and enforce applicable terms.
  • Meet legal obligations and establish or defend legal claims when necessary.

Sharing and service providers

We do not sell personal information. Information may be handled by hosting, infrastructure, security, communications, or professional service providers that support Quotemunity, subject to appropriate obligations. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, or address misuse of the service.

Security and retention

Contact form submissions are stored in QuoteMunity’s private database for authenticated administrator review. The contact record contains the purpose, name, email address, subject, message, status, and relevant timestamps; it does not store your raw IP address or analytics identifier. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. We retain contact correspondence, server logs, and security records only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and service protection. Different records may require different retention periods.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or other treatment of personal information. To make a request, use the method on our contact page. We may need to verify your identity and may retain limited records when legally permitted or required.

Children’s privacy

Quotemunity is a general-audience reference service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can review the matter.

Policy updates

We may revise this policy as Quotemunity changes. The effective date above will be updated when revisions take effect. Material changes will be communicated in a manner appropriate to the change.
