About Andrey Sheptytsky
Andrey Sheptytsky led the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church as Metropolitan of Galicia and Archbishop of Lviv from 1901 until his death in 1944. He strengthened the Church through educational and monastic initiatives, including the founding of the Lviv Theological Academy in 1928, while also pursuing Christian unity and pastoral work among Eastern-rite Catholics beyond Galicia. During the Second World War, he condemned the killing of Jews and helped protect Jewish people, including children, despite the danger posed by Nazi rule.
