bell hooks

bell hooks (1952–2021), born Gloria Jean Watkins, was an American author, feminist theorist, cultural critic, educator, and activist. Her writing examined how race, gender, and class shape systems of oppression, with influential books including Ain’t I a Woman: Black Women and Feminism, Teaching to Transgress, and All About Love. She adopted the lowercase pen name bell hooks to keep attention on her ideas rather than her identity.
