Dona Beatriz Kimpa Vita

Dona Beatriz Kimpa Vita was a Kongolese prophet and religious leader who founded the Antonian movement during the political fragmentation of the Kingdom of Kongo. Drawing on Christian symbols and Kongo cultural traditions, she sought to restore the kingdom’s unity and recast Christianity through an African lens. Her movement outlasted her execution in 1706 and remained an important episode in Kongo’s religious and political history.
