George Augustus Sala

George Augustus Sala was a prolific British journalist and author whose career was closely associated with The Daily Telegraph, for which he travelled as a special correspondent in the United States, Europe, and elsewhere. He also contributed to Household Words, the Illustrated London News, Cornhill, and other periodicals, while producing roughly forty books of fiction and nonfiction. His own Sala’s Journal ran from 1892 to 1894, adding an ambitious but short-lived publishing venture to his influential newspaper work.
