Gil Heron

Gil Heron was a Jamaican centre-forward whose career carried him from Detroit football into Scotland and England. In 1951, he became the first Black player to appear for Celtic’s first team, scoring on his debut against Morton before later playing for Third Lanark and Kidderminster Harriers. He also represented Jamaica and was the father of poet and musician Gil Scott-Heron.
