Jacobo Timerman

Jacobo Timerman was a pioneering Argentine journalist and publisher who helped modernize the country’s press through the magazines Primera Plana and Confirmado and the newspaper La Opinión. After La Opinión was expropriated by Argentina’s military dictatorship in 1977, he was imprisoned for 30 months without being charged. His memoir Preso sin nombre, celda sin número documented that experience and established him as an international voice for press freedom and human rights.
