James Mark Baldwin

James Mark Baldwin was an American philosopher and psychologist whose work helped shape early experimental and developmental psychology. He taught at the University of Toronto, Princeton, and Johns Hopkins, and helped establish the Psychological Review. His major works include *Handbook of Psychology*, *Mental Development in the Child and the Race*, and *Social and Ethical Interpretations in Mental Development*; he also edited the *Dictionary of Philosophy and Psychology*.
