Jibanananda Das

Jibanananda Das (1899–1954) was a major Bengali poet of the first half of the twentieth century and an important figure in the development of modern Bengali poetry. His writing brought together modernist sensibilities with recurring attention to Bengal’s landscapes, history, urban life, and the solitary self; he also wrote fiction and essays.
