Jules Verne

Jules Verne was a French writer whose adventure novels fused imaginative travel with carefully developed scientific and geographical ideas. Working with publisher Pierre-Jules Hetzel, he created the celebrated Voyages extraordinaires series, including Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas, and Around the World in Eighty Days. His early theatrical ambitions and later sea voyages also shaped a career that extended beyond fiction.
