Julian Bond

Julian Bond was a central figure in the American civil rights movement, helping establish the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee while still a student at Morehouse College. He later served twenty years in Georgia’s legislature, helped found the Southern Poverty Law Center, and chaired the NAACP from 1998 to 2010. Bond also taught, wrote, and used public commentary to connect civil rights activism with broader struggles for social justice.
