About Khafi Khan
Khafi Khan, also known as Muhammad Hashim, was a Mughal-era civil servant and Indo-Persian historian active in late seventeenth- and early eighteenth-century India. His principal work, *Muntakhab-al-Lubab*, completed around 1731, traces Mughal history and is especially important—though contested—as a source for the reigns of Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb. His administrative career included service in Gujarat and the Deccan, giving his historical writing a perspective shaped by direct experience of Mughal politics.
