Michael Madhusudan Dutt

Michael Madhusudan Dutt (1824–1873) was a Bengali poet and dramatist whose career linked English literary ambitions with the development of modern Bengali writing. He studied at Hindu College in Calcutta and later wrote influential Bengali drama, including the tragic epic Meghnad Badh Kavya. His work is especially associated with pioneering Bengali drama and expanding the range of Bengali poetic form.
