About Peter Singer
Peter Singer is an Australian moral philosopher whose work in applied ethics examines how moral reasoning should guide decisions about animals, poverty, bioethics, and everyday conduct. His 1975 book Animal Liberation helped establish modern philosophical debate about the treatment of nonhuman animals, while later works such as Practical Ethics and The Life You Can Save developed arguments about moral responsibility and global poverty. He is emeritus Ira W. DeCamp Professor of Bioethics at Princeton University and founded the nonprofit The Life You Can Save.
