Raj Kapoor

Raj Kapoor was an Indian actor, director, and producer who became one of the leading filmmakers of Hindi cinema’s post-independence golden age. Through films such as *Awaara* (1951) and *Shree 420* (1955), he combined music, melodrama, and social concerns with a recurring everyman persona influenced by Charlie Chaplin. He founded R. K. Films in 1948 and helped define the international reach and popular style of commercial Hindi cinema.
