Ray Columbus

Ray Columbus was a Christchurch-born New Zealand singer, songwriter and entertainer who fronted Ray Columbus and the Invaders, one of the country’s pioneering rock groups. Their 1964 hit “She’s a Mod” helped establish Columbus as an international pop performer, after which he expanded into television, artist management and industry advocacy. He also mentored younger New Zealand musicians and served on national arts and music organizations, making him an influential figure beyond his recording career.
