Salama Hegazi

Salama Hegazi was an Egyptian singer, composer, and theatrical performer who helped establish musical theatre in Egypt during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He formed his own troupe, composed music for stage works, and brought concert singing into dramatic performance. His influence extended to later Egyptian musicians, including Sayed Darwish, whom he encouraged early in his career.
