Tunku Abdul Rahman

Tunku Abdul Rahman was a Malaysian statesman who became the first Prime Minister of Malaya in 1957 and continued as Malaysia’s first prime minister after the federation was formed in 1963. He led the negotiations that secured Malayan independence and helped shape the political cooperation that underpinned the new nation. Widely remembered as the “Father of Independence,” he served until 1970.
