Werner von Siemens

Werner von Siemens was a German electrical engineer, inventor, and industrialist whose 1847 pointer telegraph helped launch Siemens & Halske, the company that became Siemens. His 1866 discovery of the dynamo-electric principle was foundational to large-scale electrical power generation. He also advanced long-distance telegraphy, electric traction, and the practical application of scientific research to industry.
