Wu Chang-shuo

Wu Chang-shuo was a leading figure of the Shanghai School whose work joined painting with calligraphy and seal carving. After settling in Shanghai in 1913, he became known for bold flower-and-bird compositions shaped by epigraphic brushwork and literati traditions. His influence extended beyond China, with his paintings and seal carvings admired in Japan.
