André Citroën

André Citroën was a French industrialist who founded the automobile company bearing his name in 1919. Trained at the École Polytechnique, he brought herringbone-gear technology, American-inspired mass-production methods, and ambitious marketing to French manufacturing. His company helped popularize large-scale automobile production in Europe, while the double-chevron emblem reflected his earlier gear business.
